NCAA Football Betting - Penn State Nittany Lions at Ohio State Buckeyes - Terrelle Pryor

Ohio State already got great news this week when quarterback Terrelle Pryor said he would return for his senior season, and the week will get even better if the Buckeyes can keep their Rose Bowl hopes alive by beating Penn State on Saturday. They are 18-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

The Ohio State Buckeyes pretty much must win out to get to Pasadena but even then they probably need help. As is usually the case Pryor is the story of this game – especially when he plays against Penn State as he is a Pennsylvania native and someone whom PSU coveted. Pryor was the preseason Heisman favorite at Bodog Sportsbook and won’t win it this year but is still having a great season. He ranks fifth in the nation in pass efficiency, having completed 67.6 percent of his throws for 1,997 yards and 20 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also has rushed for 463 yards, totaling 273 yards of total offense per game.

Meanwhile, Penn State Nittany Lions goes with Matt McGloin at quarterback for his second career start. He started against Michigan two weeks ago in place of an injured Robert Bolden and then relieved Bolden last week against Northwestern and led Penn State on five consecutive scoring drives in PSU’s 35-21 win. McGloin has completed 35 of 57 pass attempts for 475 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in his last two games. But a big reason for his success, and the team’s recent three-game winning streak, has been the running game behind Evan Royster, But Ohio State allows just 2.7 yards per carry — the only Big Ten team allowing less than 3.0 yards per carry.  OSU ranks third in the nation in total defense, scoring defense and pass efficiency defense and fourth in rushing defense.

The Buckeyes, idle last week, are 2-4 under coach Jim Tressel in games after a bye. OSU leads the all-time series 13-12 and won last year 24-7 but Pryor suffered his only home loss of his career when PSU visited two years ago.
