Can Jimmie Johnson Win as the Favorite at Indianapolis this Sunday?

by BetUS.com
JJ is the decided favorite in the NASCAR sportsbook to win this Sunday’s Brickyard 400. He’s a big time favorite as well as the next closest competitor in the sportsbook is double JJ’s odds of +350.
Jimmie has owned Indianapolis Motor Speedway the past 3 out of 5 years. Will he make it 4 out of 6?

To Win
Best NASCAR Bet A: Tony Stewart +1000
Isn’t it time that Smoke went home with a trophy this year? Tony hasn’t won a race all year and has only four Top 5 finishes to his credit. What’s the deal with Smoke, anyhow? He was en fuego in 2009! At least Smoke won at Indianapolis in 2005 and 2007 and has an average finish of 8.5 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. That’s good enough for me to say that he’s the one to back given the excellent double-digit odds being offered in the sportsbook.
Best NASCAR Bet B: Jimmie Johnson +350
It’s tough to look past a guy who’s already won 5 races in 2010 and won the Brickyard 400 in 2006, 2008 and 2009. So, I won’t look past that guy. Is it my fault if that guy is JJ? The fact that he’s a +350 favorite makes sense although I’d prefer better odds on him. But the NASCAR odds are fair and the best driver in perhaps NASCAR history is driving over a track he’s owned for a while. JJ could very well leave the rest of this field in his wake like he has so many times in recent years.
Best Underdog NASCAR Wager: Joey Logano +3500
It’s hard to find a double-digit above +2000 driver that qualifies as a long shot to win the Brickyard 400. I’ve settled on Logano for the simple fact that he drives for the team and crew chief that Tony had when he won the Brickyard 400 in 2005 and 2007. Logano is still learning, yes, but in his first try at Indianapolis last year, he ended up 12 th. That’s not too bad for a youngster that resembles Screech from Saved By The Bell more than a traditional NASCAR driver. In any case, Joey could come up huge and sports gamblers won’t have to put too much dough on him at 35 to 1 to cash a nice ticket.
Others to Consider
- Denny Hamlin +800 - - Hamlin’s never had success at Indianapolis with a 17.2 average finish and no victories but he’s having the best year of his career.
- Jeff Gordon +800 - - Gordo’s won four times at the Brickyard. That 8.6 average finish isn’t too shabby either.
- Juan Pablo Montoya +700 - - A lot of love keeps streaming into the sportsbook for Juan Pablo. I’ve got to admit that I’m not sure why because an average finish of 17.3 at Indy shouldn’t make anybody fear him. Maybe, someone knows something that I don’t know.
- Kevin Harvick +1200 - - He has a victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and is #1 in the Sprint Cup Standings by 103 points over Gordo. Enough said? I think so.
